Oneness Project
2008 Dance Leader Training Grant
Guidelines and Application Form

R

01/23/2008

Who May Apply?
Leaders of the Dances of Universal Peace who are mentored, supervised and/or certified dance leaders and who are on the Mentor Teachers Guild (MTG) referral list are eligible to apply. Applicants must also be paid-up members of the International Network for the Dances of Universal Peace (INDUP) and/or the Sufi Ruhaniat International.

Eligible Events
Dances of Universal Peace Mentors and training organizers submitted a DLT Event Eligibility Application to DLT administrator Nuria Lee (nuria@onenessproject.com) by January 6, 2008 and completed other requirements in order for their training to quality for funding from this program. Receipt of their Event Eligibility Application began our process of certifying the event's eligibility for funding and also to budget adequate funds for the year.

Among the criteria we look at to determine eligibility are the following:

1. Mentor Teacher Guild and/or Sufi Ruhaniat International leaders serve as staff for the training.
2. The event is held primarily for the purpose of increasing the required skills and attunement for leading the Dances of Universal Peace and/or Walks, specifically,
a) Dance leading for feedback is a primary component of the proposed training. Oneness Project supports this training technique, pioneered by core mentors Saadi Neil Douglas-Klotz and Tasnim Fernandez because it encourages the aspiring dance leader to reflect critically on his/her capacities and attunement and also provides the opportunity for individualized guidance and support; and/or,
b) Advanced dance leader training events presented by Senior Mentors and/or Sufi Ruhaniat International Mentors who present dances requiring advanced skills or particular attunements from their originators, and/or advanced walking practices or similar material may qualify as an eligible event for the purposes of this program.

Amount of Support
Grants are awarded only to sincere students in the path of the Dances of Universal Peace. Grants are limited to up to 50% of eligible expenses (total tuition, lodging and travel costs) for attending the event. Applicants may receive up to two (2) grants in any calendar year, but the total annual amount received cannot exceed $500. Applicants under age 30 may receive grants for up to 75% of eligible expenses not to exceed $600 in any calendar year. Oneness Project may limit the total amount of support awarded for any particular training. Only individuals registered with the MTG as mentored or supervised for at least two (2) years may apply for grants to support intercontinental travel. In this case, grants will be given only for advanced trainings, as described in the above paragraph. If you are committing to a multi-event training program please submit your estimated total expenses from all the trainings within that calendar year. (The $500 total limit per year still applies in this case.)

Application Process
Applicants may submit the application by email or in writing. The Dance Leader Training (DLT) Administrator Nuria Ginger Lee must receive the application no later than six weeks prior to the start of the proposed event. For those attending multi-year trainings, annual re-application is required. OP cannot consider re-applications if there are any outstanding training reports. Applications must be written in English and financial information presented in US dollars. (If you need help converting your country's currency to US dollars you can use one of the currency converters available on the world wide web, such as www.xe.com/ucc/.) Finally, please be sure that your application is complete and thorough enough to address all the information requested.

The DLT administrator will email you a confirmation that your application has been received and an estimated date that you will be informed whether you will receive a DLT grant award. The official notification of award  will generally be sent within a week to 10 days following the closing deadline. All grantees must file a final report with Oneness Project within one month following the conclusion of the event. An applicant with a delinquent final report must file the delinquent report before OP will consider a new grant application.
